These days, when we have seen so much pain, we Chileans should be increasingly aware of the tremendous love that flows through our veins, and which is making miracles in all of us.
While the discussion about whether the information to set off the tsunami alert was available continues, we start the reflection about the country’s connectivity –both by land and communicational.
“Like the birds that care for their young when they build a nest in the trees and the mountains, far away from predators, threats and dangers and closer to God, so should we care for our children like something sacred, promote respect for their rights and protect them” (abstract from Zilda Arns’ last speech).

The wonderful thing about our home —which is the Earth— is not that it shelters us or sustains our life, nor that we are capable of knowing it and administrate its territories, but rather that this home has slowly deposited within us its supply of meanings and values.
Haitian teacher Camille Chalmers was in Asturias, Spain, last May, speaking of the kind of solidarity that the people of Haiti need in order to overcome the devastation caused by the earthquake of January 12th.
