We mustn’t lock ourselves up in a past that has been overcome, but must open up to the novelty of the Spirit and read the signs of the times. To achieve this, we have to start to “learn to un-learn” many things. We will then be able to re-learn the novelty of the Spirit.
As bishops, as priests and religious, and as laity, we need to act with charity in the service of others, but at the same time we must speak up for our freedoms, our rights, and our contribution to society.
